DAVE AUWERDA / BIO

Welcome to my website!  My name is Dave Auwerda, I'm a teacher in Morris, Illinois, who also creates custom graphic designs.  My foray into graphic design began in 2010 by accident.  I am an avid autograph collector, and I was getting ready to attend the Chicago Cubs Convention.  I didn't have anything for the players to sign, so I began to create custom card designs. Soon after, I started to send off custom designs via the mail to build my collection.  You can see examples of my designs on the "Sports Memorabilia Artwork" section of this site.

During this time, I met Desmond Clark, who at that time was a tight end for the Chicago Bears.  Mr. Clark loved one of my designs and asked me to create a design for his charity, the 88 Wayz Foundation.  Soon after, I was designing logos for indoor football teams, such as the Illinois Hawks and Windy City Hitmen (neither of which ever played a game).  But those contacts have led me into doing graphic design work for the Chicago Blitz of the AIF, as well as designing & maintaining their website.  I also have designed the helmet stickers and logos for the Michigan City Lions of the MPFL.  For 2017, I designed the website for the Illinois Knights of the MPIF.

In 2014, I began labeling some of my work with the logo, "Gemini Cards", looking for a way to give my creations a brand.  In 2016, I morphed that into "Gemini Graphics" to more truly represent my graphic work.

I have designed & maintained websites for my responsibilities as a teacher at Morris Community High School, including our department webpage, my personal teacher webpage, and webpages for use in my classroom projects.  Also, I create graphics for non-profit organizations, such as Mitch Madness, which helped to retrofit the house of Mitch Nystedt, to make it ADA compliant after Mitch suffered a stroke.  I also ran the website while the group was actively raising funds.  I created content and maintained

the website and social media for the Chicago Blitz for their 2016 season and will be doing so for the 2018 season.  I also designed the logo for FishingCPR, a website dedicated to the "Catch, Photo, Release" method of fishing.

Any work that I have done for other people now being presented on this website.
